Big'Z and The Shed on board for Stateline! 04.20.2010
In huge news - both BIG'Z Bar & Grill and The Shed are on board as major sponsors for this year's event! BIG'Z will be a major sponsor - throwing $150 toward the event, along with enough wings for 50 people at the Players Party, and a deal for 10% off any regular priced menu item during the players party and awards ceremonies, both of which will be hosted at their location! Additionally - the newly renovated 4800 square foot patio will host the Stateline Putting Championship, a tournament that was won last year by Advanced Champion Ryan Sitler. Two baskets will be placed out on the patio, which will allow for more than just putting as games of Chains (similar to horseshoes) will be played - for fun or for cash, lets have some fun!

The Shed is also on board and is officially THE PRESENTING SPONSOR OF THE EVENT. The Stateline Classic is to be renamed - TADGA & THE SHED PRESENT: THE STATELINE CLASSIC. They are donating $300 to the Pro Purse, as well as t-shirts for all of the amateur player packs. They are unveiling a brand new logo on the t-shirts, and are a huge reason that this event will go so smooth. The Shed has long been a supporter of disc golf in Toledo, helping out over the years with events run by both Dave O'Shea and Mark Kruse. Their contributions have always been recognized, and they will continue to be recognized at The Stateline Classic.

Ottawa Park sees major renovations! 03.15.2010
Over the course of the winter Ottawa Park saw some severe changes, for the worse. The city deemed it necessary to cut down a number, a high number, of trees. Fortunately - the local disc golf community is nothing if not determined to keep things moving in the right direction. A crew of locals took time out of their days to move pin placements, and add new teepads, at Ottawa Park. Holes 3, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18 - half the course - have all seen improvements in order to keep the difficulty level at its previous level, possibly even more difficult than it was before. The Stateline Classic will be the second tournament with the opportunity to see these holes in play, following a tune-up: the Spring Hyzer, in April.

In other minor course news - Vienna Park will be placed in its most difficult layout possible for the event. Hole 3 on the water, hole 8 up the middle, hole 13 on the hill, 14 deep position, 15 right position, 16 left position, 17 protected, and 18 right. Only hole 8 will not be in its most difficult position - the much maligned deep-right position.

Mark "M1" Kruse returning to vend 12.16.2009
For the second consecutive year Mark Kruse will be bringing his strong selection as the vendor for the Stateline Classic. He will be providing the vouchers for the player packs, and will be the non-playing official at Ottawa Park througout the weekend. For the past 5+ years Mark's prices and selection have been on par with anything offered in the Toledo area, and far beyond what has been offered in other communities. Having Mark Kruse as the vendor for the Stateline allows us to provide a greater bang-for-the-buck than any other event in any other community. Throw on the extras - great player party with a seeded putting contest, massive numbers of donated CTP discs, etc - and you're looking at an event that has no greater desire than to make sure that you - the competitor - has a fantastic weekend!

Dates Set for the 2010 Stateline 12.15.2009
After a month of deliberation, it appears that the Stateline Classic has settled right into the same weekend in 2010 that it held in 2009. The final weekend in May, this year the Memorial Day weekend, will again be the date for the Stateline Classic. In 2009 the Stateline's attendance was held down by competition for golfers from the nearby "Angry Squirrel" (a B Tier in nearby Albion, Michigan). In 2010 the nearest competition will be 350 miles away. The field of 40 total competitors is expected to more than double in 2010 at the Stateline. With a maximum field of 168 golfers, there will be room for any golfer that wants to experience the well designed Ottawa Park and Michigan's 2nd oldest course, Vienna Park.

US Amateur Nationals Qualifier 12.01.2009
In 2009 the Stateline Classic was a brand new US Amateur National Championship qualifier. It received that status at the last minute with thanks to AmNats tournament director Phil Shelton. This year the Stateline anticipates being a qualifier for the second year in a row. In 2009 the Stateline received two berths - these were claimed by Kyle Lehman and Alex Gilson, both locals to the Toledo Area courses. These berths allowed both competitors to bypass the week-of qualifying days at Michigan's famed Kensington Toboggan course. In 2010 the Stateline Classic anticipates receiving spots for the top 15% of the field and sending some more golfers on to compete for the most prestigious championship in amateur disc golf.

Michigan Ohio Border Tour Event 12.01.2009
After a year as a stand-alone event in 2009, the Stateline Classic will become a Michigan-Ohio Border (MOB) Tour event in 2010. It will join The Kingston Open as the only two-day events on the Tour, and will also be one of only two full PDGA sanctioned B Tiers (again, along with The Kingston). It will be the 2nd of 9 events in the Tour, following the mid-April Spring Hyzer and preceding the mid-June Ottawa Park Open. The tour will move on to Ada, Ohio and Ann Arbor, Michigan in July before hitting the other B Tier in Norwalk at the start of August.
